Space-saving modular principle enables high packing density

LWL-Sachsenkabel GmbH has launched a modular rack unit with high packing density for structured cabling in 400G and 800G data centers. The 19-inch MRU system is available in 1U installation height, can hold up to 144 fibers, and is suitable for patch and splice applications.

Gornsdorf/Erzgebirge, 12th Oct. 2022 With the MRU, LWL-Sachsenkabel GmbH has launched a modular rack unit (MRU) with a high packing density for structured cabling in data centers. The 19-inch high-density system enables a maximum number of patches with minimum space requirements and supports the construction of high-performance network infrastructures for the transmission of 400G and 800G. It is available in the installation height of 1 U and can accommodate 144 fibers per height unit with standard LC connector systems. With the new VSFF connector systems (Very Small Form Factor), up to 288 fibers per height unit could be realized in the future.

The modular principle of the system allows any combination of modules, making the MRU suitable for both splice and patch applications. Three separately extendable bays per height unit can be equipped with 4×4.5″ plug-in modules and enable convenient handling during installation and retrofitting. Each slot already has an integrated patch cable routing, which eliminates the need for a separate height unit for cable management and facilitates cable routing. In addition to classic splice and patch modules, the MRU also has breakoutmodules from MTP to LC. Due to the modular design, mixed assembly is also possible.

Cable installation and retrofitting are uncomplicated due to the well thought-out design: The rear cable interception allows fixation and strain relief of incoming cables both laterally and from the back. Six U-recesses are suitable for accommodating up to three M20 or M25 as well as up to six M12 screw connections. The grid on the bottom allows uncomplicated and tool-free fixation and also serves as a cable storage for extra lengths. The patch cables on the front are easy to handle despite the high packing density and are located behind a front flap after installation, which enables clear documentation through labeling options.
