Highlights: new pluggable lifting point and clickable shackle

Aalen, August 2024 – This year, RUD’s appearance at AMB (10 to 14 September in Stuttgart, Hall 8, Stand 8C20) will focus on efficient lifting technology solutions for the metalworking industry. The German company is going to present its broad portfolio of lifting means for the entire value chain in the tool and mould making, mechanical engineering and plant construction industries. The pluggable lifting point PIP-RAPIDO and the clickable shackle CCS-FASTLOX will take centre stage, two new products that significantly simplify and speed up the lifting of loads thanks to an innovative functional principle.

In comparison with conventional fork-head shackles, the extremely robust CCS-FASTLOX can be used without any tools at all – i.e. without a separate bolt, nut and cotter pin. To assemble it, the user simply pushes the bolt through the shackle and clicks it into a safety mechanism attached to the side, which automatically keeps it in position. This means that it takes up to 80% less time to assemble and dismantle the shackle. The CCS-FASTLOX will be available from September in grades 12 (ICE) and 10 (VIP) and in nominal sizes from 4 to 16 (ICE) or 6 to 22 (VIP).

One possible application is using the CCS-FASTLOX in combination with the new pluggable lifting point PIP-RAPIDO with a self-locking fixing mechanism. It was developed to supplement boltable and weldable lifting points and is in particular intended for easy assembly on through hole fixtures – such as flanges – and holes with undercuts. To fix it in place, the locking elements are unlocked at the locking bolt and the bolt is inserted into the through hole fixture. As soon as the bolt is in position, the locking mechanism automatically engages, making a safe connection between the load and the lifting point possible. Thanks to this mechanism, PIP-RAPIDO can be installed much more quickly than conventional boltable lifting points. It is therefore also suitable for scenarios where a boltable lifting point is unsuitable because it is not possible to fit a nut from below – for example when it is assembled on flanges that are stacked on top of one another. The new PIP-RAPIDO will be available from the beginning of October in various dimensions and lengths.

Alongside its new products, RUD will present its digital services under the name “RUD Digital World”: the intuitive tools enable developers and users of lifting means to access RUD’s cumulative industry knowledge at any time and wherever they are. At its exhibition stand, the company will, for example, present a new 3D lifting points configurator, which is available immediately to supplement the well-established lifting means configurator. Therefore, users have a complete system for the application-oriented configuration of chain slings and lifting points. The company will also present the new BUDDYtron app, which provides comprehensive support in day-to-day use: almost all RUD products feature extremely robust RFID transponders as standard, and these can be used to call up the factory ID numbers on a reader or smartphone on the basis of NFC technology. When they have this ID number, it is not difficult for users to access application-related information, such as comprehensive product data and instruction manuals, via the BUDDYtron app, for example. The user can also check, in just a few steps, whether selected lifting points and lifting means are suitable for lifting a specified load. The app also has an extensive database of instructions for safety checks and practical tips for assembly, dismantling or repairs. It is not at all difficult for users to contact the RUD specialists directly from the app if they have particular concerns. BUDDYtron’s range of functions – and the company’s entire digital portfolio – will be extended in the future.
