Focus on the new plugin lifting point and clickable shackle

Aalen, September 2024 – RUD presents lifting equipment for rail technology at the Innotrans 2024 (24 to 27 September in Berlin, Hall 6.2, Stand 420). The range of products on display will include lifting and load handling equipment for the entire value chain – from manufacture to maintenance and repair of rail vehicles and infrastructure. The new PIP-RAPIDO plugin lifting point and the CCS-FASTLOX clickable shackle will be presented to the industry for the first time at the trade fair, and will significantly simplify and speed up the lifting of loads thanks to innovative functional principles.

The PIP-RAPIDO was developed to supplement boltable and weldable lifting points and is in particular intended for assembly on through hole fixtures and holes with undercuts. It has a self-locking mechanism that makes installation much easier and quicker than conventional boltable lifting points: to install, simply unlock the locking elements on the locking bolt and insert the bolt into the through hole fixture. Once the bolt is in position, the spring mechanism automatically engages, making a safe connection between the load and the lifting point possible. This mechanism also makes the PIP-RAPIDO suitable for applications where a boltable lifting point is unsuitable – for example, assembly on stacked flanges where a nut is difficult or impossible to fit. The new plugin lifting point will be available from the beginning of October in various diameters and lengths.

RUD will also be presenting its newly developed CCS-FASTLOX clickable clevis shackle at the trade fair stand, which significantly optimises the lifting of loads thanks to a globally unique assembly principle. The robust shackle can be fitted without a nut and cotter pin, saving up to 80% of handling time compared to conventional boltable shackles. It is fixed without tools – the bolt is pushed through the shackle and automatically engaged by a locking mechanism on the side. The CCS-FASTLOX will be available from September in grades 12 (ICE) and 10 (VIP) and in nominal sizes from 4 to 16 (ICE) or 6 to 22 (VIP).

In addition to its standardised product portfolio, RUD will also present a range of customised solutions, including the supply and assembly of rail vehicle parts and the maintenance and repair of rail infrastructure. For example, the stand will feature load handling equipment for specific applications along the rail technology value chain – such as a rail grab or lifting beams for lifting and inserting vehicle parts.

Another highlight of RUD’s appearance at the trade fair will be the “RUD Digital World” digital service portfolio. One service being presented is a new 3D lifting point configurator, which is now available as a supplement to the tried-and-tested lifting means configurator – users can now access a complete system for the application-orientated configuration of chain suspensions and lifting points. Also on display on the exhibition stand will be the recently revealed BUDDYtron App, which offers extensive support on all questions about lifting loads. A central function of the app is product identification via RFID technology, which allows users to access product information directly on site. Almost all RUD products are equipped as standard with highly robust RFID transponders, with which factory-set ID numbers can be retrieved using a reader or smartphone. In the BUDDYtron app, users can then access application-relevant information such as comprehensive product data and operating instructions. The app also makes it easy to check that planned lifting means and lifting points are suitable for lifting a defined load. Users can contact the manufacturer directly from the app if they have particular concerns. “With the RUD Digital World, developers and users of lifting equipment now have our bundled industry knowledge at their fingertips, wherever they may be – that not only helps them to make working processes easier and reduce testing process times, but also increase the safety level in general when lifting, moving and securing loads”, says Fabian Bihlmaier, Product Manager at RUD.
