Tool-free assembly and dismantling in seconds

Aalen, September 2024 – RUD expands its portfolio of lifting points: in addition to boltable and weldable models, the Aalen-based company now also offers a pluggable lifting point for the first time with the PIP-RAPIDO. Designed specifically for installation in through and undercut holes, it has a self-locking attachment mechanism that makes installation much easier and many times faster than with conventional lifting points.

The PIP-RAPIDO is installed without the use of any tools: a rotating ring unlocks the support elements at the lower end of the locking bolt, allowing the lifting point to be inserted into the hole. When released, a built-in spring mechanism automatically returns the ring to its original position, extending the support elements on the bolt to provide a secure connection between the load and the lifting point. An indicator with a coloured and symbolic marking on the rotating ring provides a clear indication of whether the lifting point is fully locked or not. The PIP-RAPIDO’s simple and time-saving fastening mechanism makes it ideal for hard-to-reach locations and applications with a high number of assembly and dismantling operations. The PIP-RAPIDO is also ideal for applications where a boltable lifting point is not an option – for example, when mounting on stacked flanges where it is difficult or impossible to fit a nut.

As well as being quick and easy to install, the PIP-RAPIDO is also highly flexible: whereas other manufacturers’ pluggable lifting points have to be designed to fit precisely into holes, the PIP-RAPIDO offers a range of 2 millimetres in diameter and up to 10 millimetres in length. A configuration of the pluggable lifting point can therefore be employed for various drilled hole diameters. And because the PIP-RAPIDO does not need to be flush with the load surface, unlike boltable lifting points, it is also suitable for mounting on a wide range of components without a flat surface. The PIP-RAPIDO will be available with load capacities of 4.2 tons at 0 to 45° and with a flexible choice of diameters ranging from 30 to 41 millimetres as well as lengths between 16 and 100 millimetres when it is launched at the beginning of October. The range of diameters and lengths available will continue to be expanded in the future.

Like many RUD products, the PIP-RAPIDO is also equipped with an integrated RFID transponder as standard; this can be used to retrieve the ID number registered in the factory by using a NFC-based reader or smartphone. This enables a simple and fast inspection process, as components can be properly identified in seconds and with legal certainty. With this ID number, it is not difficult for users to access application-related information, such as comprehensive product data and instruction manuals, via the BUDDYtron app, for example.
